First Lutheran To Host Music During Easter Services

The First Lutheran Church will have special music at both the 9 a.m. contemporary worship service and the 10:30 a.m. traditional worship service on Easter Sunday, April 4.

The 9 a.m. service will feature instrumental and vocal music both live and on video. The service will include Easter music, scripture readings, communion with the current COVID precautions, and an Easter message by Pastor Dan Rumfelt. The abbreviated service of 35 minutes will be video recorded and available online via the Sacred Fire First Lutheran Jamestown Facebook page, the First Lutheran Church Jamestown Facebook page, and on our church website www.flcjny.org. Kimberly King is the Worship Leader and Coordinator of Contemporary Worship and leader of the Sacred Fire Praise Team.

There will be a 15 minute prelude of special music at 10:15 a.m. preceding the 10:30 a.m. traditional worship service in the church nave. Musical selections will include a Piano-Organ Duet with Julie Livengood, pianist, and Brian Bogey, organist, playing “All Hail the Power of Jesus’ Name” arranged by Lani Smith; a vocal solo “Because He Lives” by William Gaither will be sung by Julie Costantini, soprano soloist; Gail Espinoza will perform a piano solo “How Majestic Is Your Name” by M.W. Smith and arranged by Jerry Ray; and Marika Koch, soprano soloist, will sing “Alleluia” from “Exultate Jubilate” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

The 10:30 a.m. Traditional Worship Service with holy communion will include festive Easter hymns “Jesus Christ Is Risen Today” and “Thine Is the Glory.” The First Lutheran Select Choral Ensemble will sing the anthem “Christ Is Risen, Alleluia” by Sally Albrecht and Jay Ahlthouse. The Hymn of the Day will feature a Choral Anthem/Congregational Hymn number entitled “The Day of Resurrection” arranged by Benjamin Harlan. The organ postlude will be “Carillon de Westminster” by Louis Vierne.

Worship participants at the 10:30 a.m. traditional worship service will include the Rev. Daniel S. Rumfelt, Pastor; Brian A. Bogey, minister of music and organist; Peter Larson, Liturgist; Fred Larson, Lector, and Jane Young, Videographer. The service will also be on our First Lutheran Church Jamestown Facebook page, and on our church website www.flcjny.org. The public is welcome to attend.
