Zonta Club Receives Proclamation

Zonta members Bonnie DeJoy, Beth Jermain, Laura Corey, Sylvia Stenander, Roz Newton, Deb Piotrowski, Gale Svenson-Campbell, Mary Cook, and Karen Dolce are pictured with Mayor Eddie Sundquist.

The Zonta Club of Jamestown received an official proclamation from Jamestown Mayor Eddie Sundquist in recognition of its 16 Days of Activism.

During the 16 days from Nov. 25 through Dec. 10, Jamestown City Hall will be lit with orange lights to bring recognition to the fact that national and international Zonta Clubs are uniting against gender-based violence.

Violence against women and girls is a global epidemic and affects millions. It includes psychological, physical and sexual violence and the harmful practice of human trafficking. Launched in 2012, the campaign has raised awareness of the global issues of women’s rights violations and has united Zonta clubs worldwide in conducting impactful advocacy actions. The Zonta Club of Jamestown is proud to be part of this effort.
