A Quilting Good Time In Leon

On Aug. 29, a small group gathered at the Leon Fire Hall to enjoy donuts and coffee before venturing into the Amish Folk Art Quilting Class.

Soon the machines were humming and the irons were hot. And sunflowers emerged on towels and potholders.

The Leon Historical Society has three more classes scheduled. Saturday will be Dresden fan mug rugs/pot holders — a set of four; Sept. 19 the group will be doing the bear claw pattern; and Sept. 26 the group will be making a nine-patch Japanese style Apron.

Tuition for each class is $40 and includes all materials to finish one project and lunch.

All classes are conducted according to state Department of Health guidelines for health and safety. Masks and social distancing are required.

Those interested in joining are asked to call 257-5272 or 296-5709 to reserve a spot.
