Sargent Seeks Re-Election To Busti Town Board

Randy Sargent, incumbent Busti Town Board member, is running for re-election in the June 9 primary for Busti Town Board.

Sargent was appointed to the Busti Town Board in February after a 22-year career as a town employee with duties that included mowing, weeding, and landscaping the town parks, cemeteries, and buildings; maintaining the park’s pavilions, playground equipment, and the soccer and baseball fields; repairing and repainting the cemetery fences; maintenance on road signs and guard rails; construction of rock gardens on the town triangle and across town; decoration of the town triangles for spring, Memorial Day, Busti Apple Festival and Christmas; and plowing and salting town roads. He retired in December.

Sargent and his wife, Candy, are the owners and operators of the Busti Victorian Hall.

Sargent also served in the U.S. Air Force, went to the South Carolina Police Academy and worked as an police officer in Charleston County, S.C.

On Nov. 1, 1977, Sargent enlisted in the U.S. Air Force active duty, where he was stationed at Clark Air Force Base, in the Philippines and Charleston Air Force Base in South Carolina.

After active duty Sargent enlisted into the active reserve station at Charleston before performing reserve duty at Niagara Falls AIr Force Base for 17 years.

Sargent is a 1975 graduate of Southwestern Central School.

He has been a member of the Busti Federated Church for more than 30 years, is a member of American Legion Post 1286 in Lakewood and a member of the Busti Historical Society for 20 years.

Sargent and his wife, Candy, have a daughter, Brittany, 29, and son, Brandon, 19, who is attending Alfred State College majoring in cybersecurity on a four-year merit scholarship.
