Ellsworth Seeks Cassadaga Valley School Board Seat

SINCLAIRVILLE — Diane Ellsworth of Cherry Creek has announced that she is running for an open position on the Cassadaga Valley Central School Board of Education for the upcoming election on June 9.

She has released the following statement:

“My name is Diane Ellsworth, and it would be my honor to represent you on the school board. Several will remember me as a physical education teacher K-12, director of athletics and coach at Cassadaga Valley Central School until I became a school administrator. I retired three years ago having spent 35 years in education, the last 14 years as an elementary school principal.

“I have been a resident of the CVCS community for the past 25 years. I look forward to representing my neighbors and all residents of the school district. I have administrative experience and leadership skills that I would like to put to use for the school district. I have experience with community relations, curriculum development, contract negotiations, budget development and staff/teacher evaluations, which will be beneficial should I serve on the board of education.

“Education is evolving with our students using technology to broaden their knowledge and gain information of the world around them. Students and families have an expectation that schools provide the necessary tools for each student to reach his/her potential. However, it is a reality that as education evolves, in-class lessons, online lessons and real-world experiences are becoming more in demand to meet the requirements our students will need to be successful in an ever-changing world. These changes in education may be difficult for many; therefore, we should work together for the betterment of all the students.

“These extraordinary times may call for exceptional thinking on everyone’s part as we are all in this together. I will work hard to ensure the continual excellence of our highly regarded school district while being sensitive to the economic realities of our district and taxpayers.

“I am willing to answer any questions you may have for me as I run for the school board position. Since the coronavirus causes all of us the inability to be social, please feel free to contact me at DianeForSchoolBoard@gmail.com. Please take care of yourself and loved ones.”
