Carillon Bell System Is Installed At Church

1 min read

KENNEDY -- Installation of a Carillon bell system was recently completed at the church in memory of long-time church member and organist, Donna A. Dort.

Mrs. Dort passed away in November 2018 and was a 71-year member of the church and had served in the rolls of organist, pianist, choir director, bell choir director, worship leader, Sunday school music leader and mentor to youth for confirmation class, as well as serving on numerous committees locally and for the United Methodist conference.

Monetary gifts in memory of Mrs. Dort, as well as a fundraising campaign in her memory, made the purchase of the digital bell system possible.

As a retired postmaster from the Kennedy Post Office, Dort had many friends in the New York State Postal Retirees organization who donated toward the project.

Other money was received from family and friends, the local community and church friends. The digital bells, purchased from the Verdin Company, from Cincinnati, Ohio, will bring music to the Kennedy community for years to come.
