2020 United Arts Appeal Grant Recipients Announced

Four local organizations and four local artists have received word that their applications to the Projects Pool Grants Program of the United Arts Appeal of Chautauqua County (UAA) received a favorable response.

The 2020 Projects Pool Grants Program awardees and their projects are listed here:

ORGANIZATIONS

¯ Audubon Community Nature Center: COVID-19 Creativity – Nature Inspired Art Kits for Kids

¯ Citizens for a Better Cassadaga: Summer Concert Series on Cassadaga Lake

¯ Great Lakes FX: Blossoms and Blooms

¯ Jamestown Parks, Recreation and Conservation Dept.: 2020 Summer Bandshell Concert Series

INDIVIDUAL ARTISTS

¯ Audrey Kay Dowling: Learning Woodcut Reductions

¯ Daniel Gage: Conga and Bongo Drums

¯ George Wiedenhofer: Shades of Yosemite

¯ Nick Weiser: What is Jazz?: A Concert for Children and Families at the Fredonia Opera House

In addition to providing operating support for seven of the county’s larger arts organizations, the UAA makes these annual awards for artistic projects.

To apply, organizations must have nonprofit status; individuals must have been Chautauqua County residents for at least one year and can work in any artistic discipline.

After being screened for eligibility and fulfillment of requirements, applications are reviewed by an advisory panel composed of artists and community leaders. Their recommendations are then reviewed for approval by the United Arts Appeal board.

Normally award letters are accompanied by grant checks. In 2020, recipients whose projects could be impacted by COVID-19 restrictions will receive their funding when completion of their projects by year’s end is assured. Otherwise, they are encouraged to resubmit their applications next year.

United Arts Appeal member organizations are the Chautauqua Regional Youth Ballet, Community Music Project, 1891 Fredonia Opera House Performing Arts Center, Infinity Visual and Performing Arts, Jamestown Concert Association, Lucille Ball Little Theatre of Jamestown, and Western New York Chamber Orchestra.

The United Arts Appeal is supported by Chautauqua County, local foundations, corporations, businesses, and individuals throughout the county.

Tax-deductible contributions to support the United Arts Appeal of Chautauqua County can be mailed to PO Box 754, Jamestown, NY 14702.
