Students Discover Post Office On Field Trip

Birgit Hanson’s universal pre-kindergarten class at Bemus Point Elementary School recently walked to the Bemus Point Post Office. Children listened to the postmistress explain how mail travels to other locations. They looked at and learned about the post office boxes and what happens when a package is too big to go in the box. Students also made homemade Christmas cards and sent them to friends or family that lived out of town and canceled the stamps on their own cards. Recipients were asked to write back, and class members received responses from several different states. The post mistress gave the class treats to take back to the classroom.
