Motivational Interviewing Event To Be Held At UPMC Chautauqua

“Motivational Interviewing: How to Negotiate Inner Change within a Recoveree” will be held from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, at in the UPMC Chautauqua WCA auditorium, 207 Foote Ave., Jamestown.

The fee is $100. Participants will be trained on how to prepare, initiate, perform and follow up a motivational interview when interacting with potential clients or patients.

Included will be role-playing in the second half of the day so that participants will be educated, rehearsed and ready to go upon re-entering into their field of expertise. Participants will also learn the potential positive outcomes that come from knowing and utilizing these tools where they can use them in their personal, professional and ultimately daily lives.

Gwendolyn A. Bork is the owner and impact strategist of Queen City Collaborative, a keynote speaker, president of FOCUS (an addiction prevention coalition) and a state board-certified addiction recovery coach. Bork received the “40 Under 40” Young Leader Award by Business First and she is the published author of “Walking the Fine Line.”

Community members interested in the topic are welcome and encouraged to attend. The course is also suitable for those seeking professional credentialing as a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC), Credentialed Prevention Professional (CPP) or Credentialed Prevention Specialist (CPS). The 6-hour training is approved for initial credential hours for a CPP/CPS and CASAC/CPP/CPS renewal hours by the New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS).
