Literacy Volunteers Looking To Offer New Services

Literacy Volunteers of Chautauqua County is looking to offer new services.

Services include helping area residents learn how to use a smartphone, tablet, computer or other electronic device through one-on-one, personal coaching. To schedule an appointment at the organization’s office at 10 Park Place, Fredonia, call 366-4438.

Those with vision issues who need help filling out necessary forms can call Literacy Volunteers at 366-4438 to schedule an appointment.

The service is free with donations accepted.

Literacy Volunteers of Chautauqua County’s move to Fredonia has given the organization space to potentially offer group training sessions for a small fee. Organization officials are considering offering classes in Spanish, financial literacy and basic computer skills. For more information, call Julie at 366-4438 to let the organization know there is community interest.

The organization is also looking for community members willing to serve on its board of directors. For more information, call 366-4438 or email lvaccc@netsync.net.

Volunteers are also needed in the book store or to serve as tutors.

The book store is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, with volunteers asked to fill a three-hour shift. If volunteers are available the store could expand its hours to be open Tuesday.

Tutor volunteers are expected to volunteer two hours of tutoring a week.
