Southwestern Middle School Holds Spelling Bee

Recently, Southwestern Middle School held its annual Spelling Bee in the high school auditorium.

All three grade levels competed to become the bee champion. Southwestern Middle School has held the competition for more than a decade.

This year there were 32 students participating in the contest under the direction of Diane LaGrega, chairperson and organizer of the event. Tim Becker pronounced the list of spelling words. Amy Pearson, Julia Casselman and Kim Pannes who were the judges and Mr. Kellogg the bee technician.

Nolan Lefler, son of Dennis and Leah Lefler of Jamestown, was the champion and seventh grade winner of the annual Southwestern Middle School Spelling Bee. Samuel Kautzman was the eighth grade winner while Ezra Mitchener was the sixth grade winner. The champion and grade level winners will receive a gift card from Off the Beaten Path in Lakewood.
