Brooklyn Artist To Speak At Technology Incubator
DUNKIRK — Rainy Lehrman, a Brooklyn artist and educator, will speak about the professional practice side of her artistic career at the Fredonia Technology Incubator’s Arts and Business Luncheon series at noon Friday.
Lehrman is an artist, educator, fabricator, and facilitator. The sixteenth installment of the luncheon series will be held at the Fredonia Technology Incubator, 214 Central Ave., Dunkirk. The event is free and open to the public. Seating is limited and registration is required by visiting lehrmanluncheon.eventbrite.com. Lehrman will introduce her work and then discuss professional practice topics like ways to network and build skills with creative jobs, such as a studio assistant to well-known artists, and volunteering at sculpture parks, as well as finding and getting artist residencies and commissions. She has installed outdoor sculptures at sculpture parks such as I-Park in East Haddam, Connecticut and Socrates Sculpture Park in Long Island City. She continues to work as a fabricator/facilitator for other artists.
Lehrman teaches at William Paterson University in New Jersey. Lehrman has lectured and taught at Pacific Northwest College of ART, William Paterson University, and Pratt Institute. She received her bachelor’s degree from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2002 and her masters degree in sculpture from Pratt Institute in 2008, where she studied furniture design.
