Audubon Little Explorers Look ‘Under The Snow’ Event Saturday

Under the snow and the frozen ground, the natural world still teems with life.

Adults and the three- to eight-year-old children in their life can experience “Under the Snow” at Audubon Community Nature Center’s Little Explorers on Saturday, Dec. 14, from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

Those attending can investigate this snowy underland first indoors, examining clues and identifying evidence. The group will then go outdoors to collect real-time evidence of those winter inhabitants and learn about animals’ lives during the winter and how they adapt to the snow.

The program includes an indoor lesson and an outdoor adventure. A snack is provided after the hike and a craft is offered if there is time.

Little Explorers takes place regardless of the weather, so those attending should dress for the weather.

The fee for the program is $8 for adults, $6 for Nature Center members and children. Reservations are required by Thursday, Dec. 12, by calling 569-2345 during business hours or going to AudubonCNC.org/Programs and clicking “Current Schedule.”

Little Explorers is presented on the second Saturday of every month from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Audubon.

Audubon education programs are funded with support from the Carnahan Jackson Foundation, Jessie Smith Darrah Fund, Holmberg Foundation, Hultquist Foundation, and Lenna Foundation.
