Prevention Works Is Holding Training

Prevention Works, formerly known as CASAC, is offering an online training educational session for community members and professionals entitled “Marijuana & Adolescent Brain Development” through Nov. 22.

The one-hour session is offered at no charge thanks to a grant from Cummins Inc. Jamestown Engine Plant. Eric Williams and Trish Whetstone are the presenters. Participants will learn to review different components of marijuana and how it has changed; discuss neural and behavioral risks associated with adolescent use, and how to summarize two types of addictions and its impact on adolescent brain development.

The course is suitable for those seeking professional credentialing hours as a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC), Credentialed Prevention Professional (CPP) or Credentialed Prevention Specialist (CPS). The 1 hour is approved for CPP/CPS, Section 1 and CASAC/CPP/CPS Renewal NYS OASAS & PCB approved. This program is also recognized and approved by the Pennsylvania Certification Board through reciprocity.
