The Northern Chautauqua Canine Rescue Dogs of the Week, are Sassie, Chewie and Max. All three are pomeranians. Sassie is believed to be 1¢ years old, Chewie is a male guessed to be 3 years old and Max is thought to be 2. All three came in on Nov. 2, so the volunteers are just getting to know them. They range in weight from 3 to 20 pounds. Also named is Heaven, who walks nicely on a leash, has paired well with several other dogs, may or may not like cats and loves people once she gets to know them. She could easily be a couch potato as she loves belly rubs and hanging out with her people, and she is always very happy to see volunteers approaching with a leash in hand for a walk. Napping and sunbathing were two of her favorite summer activities in the yards. The shelter is located at 7540 N. Gale St., Westfield, and is open from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday or by appointment by calling 326-7297. Many of the dogs can be seen online at www.caninerescue.org. The shelter is quite full with big dogs, little dogs and puppies in foster homes. The rescue is also in the midst of a “Buy A Brick” fundraiser for the walkway that was just put down.
