Norden Women’s Club Holds October Meeting

The Norden Women’s Club enjoyed a Swedish lunch at the group’s October general meeting held at the Marvin House. Speaking about the extensive work they have done to restore the Jamestown Street Railway Trolley Car No. 93 were Jim Mitchener and Bob Johnston. The work began in 1996 when Johnston rescued the trolly car from its use as a hunting camp since its retirement from service. Eventually it was moved to the old train station where the restoration work would begin. They showed slides and told stories about how trolleys were the popular mode of transportation until the advent of the automobile. The slides showed how their hard work and expertise transformed the rundown car into an excellent representation of the original car. They also mentioned all the local businesses that have contributed to the project.
