Jefferson Middle School music students have new guitars and ukuleles through a grant from The Guitar Center Music Foundation.

The foundation donated ten ukuleles, eight classical guitars, 12 packs of f classical guitar strings, 18 Fender chromatic tuners, stands for ukuleles, eight classical guitar gig bags and ten ukuleles gig bags.

“We appreciate the generous donation of musical instruments from The Guitar Center Music Foundation,” said Jamie Berg, Jamestown Public Schools humanities coordinator. “Jefferson students will benefit from the donation by learning more about the different instruments they can play. The guitar and ukulele are instruments they can play professionally or just as a great hobby. Our music teacher will be using these instruments to teach the elements of music and encourage a love of music in all middle school grade levels.”

The Guitar Center Music Foundation aims to keep music education alive and available in schools and communities. Founded in 2005, the public charity has reached more than 300,000 people through its grants of instruments to music education programs. These grant recipients, which give more people the opportunity to make music, include school music classrooms and community-based organizations.
