Mee Seeks Re-Election For Highway Super

KENNEDY — Larry Mee announced he is seeking re-election for a sixth term as highway superintendent for the town of Poland.

He was part of Mee Brothers Farm for 25 years and is finishing 20 years as superintendent of the highway department. He and his wife, Joyce, reside on Mee Road and have two children, Brett and Stacy.

“During my time as superintendent the department has made many upgrades to the facilities,” he said. “An addition was added to the main garage to accommodate today’s larger trucks and a salt shed was constructed to store supply next to the sand barn. All of the buildings were covered with metal siding to lengthen their life. All done with the departments labor to save the taxpayers money.

“A storage pole barn was built to house town equipment under cover. The towns roads are all on a four-year chip-seal cycle to maintain the driving surface. Many roads have received a course of blacktop to improve their drivability. The department has worked with the fire department to install nine dry hydrants around town to help in the event of a fire. We take care of all snow plowing and pavement maintenance for the firemen.”

Mee is a past president of the Chautauqua County Town and Village Highway Superintendents Association.

“For many years I have been traveling to Albany to lobby our legislators for our CHIPS funding to fix our roads,” he said.
