Ruff Riders Travel For Horse Show

After qualifying at the Warren County 4-H Horse Show in July, eight members of the Sugar Grove Ruff Riders 4-H Club traveled to Centre Hall, Pa., with their ten horses and ponies, for the Annual District VIII 4-H Horse Show, Sept. 6 and 7.

The top three places in each class qualify for the State 4-H Horse Show in Harrisburg in October. Their District placings are as follows:

¯ Alexis Christensen and Jasper, first in Beginner English Equitation, first in Intermediate English Grooming and Showmanship, and fifth in Beginner English Pleasure.

¯ Arlene Boisvert and Ivan, first in Junior Western Horsemanship, showed in Novice Reining, Open Trail Ponies, and Working Western Horse or Pony. Also showed Montana Frost in Junior Miniature Horse In Hand Trail.

¯ Ava Nyweide and Cody, first in Junior Miniature Horse Driving, and showed in Miniature Horse Jumping and Junior Western Grooming and Showmanship.

¯ Hailey Graham and Hershey, first in Beginner Trail, sixth in Beginner English Pleasure, and showed in Junior English Grooming and Showmanship.

¯ Katie Downs and Shamrock, first in Ranch Horse Pleasure, third in Senior Western Horsemanship, fifth in Open Trail Ponies, sixth in Novice Reining, and showed in Senior Western Grooming and Showmanship and Working Western Horse or Pony.

¯ Marissa Gourley and Chaz, first in Junior Western Pleasure Horses, third in Intermediate Western Horsemanship, and third in Intermediate Western Grooming and Showmanship.

¯ Samantha Nyweide and A Minor Leaguer, first in Senior Open Trail Horses, second in Senior Western Pleasure Horses, third in Senior Western Grooming and Showmanship; and with Cooper, third in Senior Miniature Horse Driving, third in Senior Miniature Horse In Hand Trail, and third in Miniature Horse Jumping.

¯ Thayne Gourley and Yogi, sixth in Beginner Western Pleasure, and showed in Beginner Western Horsemanship.

Sugar Grove Ruff Riders’ first meeting of the new 4-H year will be Tuesday, October 1, from 6 to 8 pm at Mission Covenant Church, Sugar Grove, Pa. Returning members and any others, ages 5 to 18, who are interested in joining, should plan to attend this very important first meeting.
