LAKEWOOD — The Lakewood Memorial Library board has hired a new director, Shannon Taylor.

Taylor topped the list of eight other candidates for the position. A resident of Lakewood, Taylor has worked in a related capacity at the library for two years. She has a Masters of Library and Information Science from the University of South Florida and a bachelor of arts in English Literature and Writing from Indiana University.

Her goals for the library, located at 12 W. Summit St., Lakewood, include keeping the library “relevant to the community’s needs.” She is looking forward to implementing many new ideas to better serve the community and welcomes comments and suggestions. Her first priority is to improve the library experience for every age group by enhancing the spatial design and adding diverse programming.
