Libertarian Parties Meet; Nominate Borrello To Vacant Senate Seat
The Chautauqua County and Cattaraugus County Libertarian Parties have held a series of discussions in regards to the District 57 State Senate race, the seat that Cathy Young vacated in March.
Both candidates seeking the office were interviewed by the Chautauqua and Cattaraugus Libertarian Parties, with the parties holding a joint meeting recently to officially nominate Chautauqua County Executive George Borrello for the state Senate seat.
“We stand by our decision to nominate George Borrello,” said Andrew Martin Kolstee, chair of the Chautauqua County Libertarian Party. “His efforts to reduce the burden of government, increase efficiency, and facilitate collaboration are in line with libertarian values. He will bring these efforts to Albany and continue the fight to bring economic prosperity to our region. We share many of the same values and we are excited to work more with George in the future and provide a libertarian perspective on various issues.”
The Chautauqua County Libertarian Party held its final nominating meeting recently at the See-Zurh House in Bemus Point and issued its final nominations. Those nominated were:
¯ Karen Bifaro for Ellington town supervisor
¯ Dennis Colvenback for Ellington highway superintendent
¯ Louis Pelletter for Hanover Town Board
¯ Timothy Smeal for Jamestown City Council Ward 1
¯ Thomas Wik for Sheridan Town Board
