Finson Performs Harp Solo

The Mozart Club of Jamestown began its 140th season with a harp solo performance by Hannah Finson, who gave her first harp performance at ther age of 12. A Lakewood native, Finson is a sophomore at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va., where the National Honor Society student earned a full scholarship. Although an accomplished musician in several instruments, she is majoring in biochemistry and molecular biology with the goal of a career in surgical ophthalmology. Her concert was performed on a restored Lyons Healy harp, which is more than 109 years old. The program ranged from popular pieces such as “Starry, Starry Night” to movie music “Beauty and the Beast” and “Edelweiss” to classics such as Pachelbel’s “Canon to Debussy’s” and “La Fille aux cheveux de Lin.” The next meeting of the Mozart Club, 1879 Royal Tea and Concert, will be at the Marvin House on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m., Royal tea at 2:30 p.m. Members and guests are requested to wear hat and gloves and encouraged to wear long skirts or simulated period garb.
