Cassadaga Holds Labor Day Weekend Festivities

CASSADAGA — The end of the summer brought the Labor Day weekend, and the people of Cassadaga celebrated with a weekend of events. There was a boat parade with the theme of Mardi Gras. Eight boats participated in the parade which went from the middle lake boat launch to the village lake, around the oxbow and back. Prizes were awarded to some of the participants. Following the parade, a concert was held in the Cassadaga American Legion Hall to conclude the day. The grand parade along Maple Avenue was scheduled for 11 a.m. The rains began one hour prior to the parade but stopped in time for the parade line up. The Cassadaga American Legion Honor Guard led the parade of many participants, including the Sinclairville Meals on Wheels Vans, the Cassadaga Fire Department and other neighboring fire departments. Thanks to Bethany Burlingame for her work in organizing the parade. Following the parade, the Ducky Derby was held at the outlet near the fire hall. In the water watching the ducks come through the line up were Ron Juzdowskil, Ryan Burlingame, Steven Wickmark and Peter George. Thanks to Dan Thorp for his electrical work withound system.
