N. Harmony Senior Citizens To Meet Today

Attendance for the two meetings of the North Harmony Senior Citizens on June 17 and July 15 were 50 and 56 members and guests respectfully. Birthday celebrant for June was Sue Harper and for July was Barb Cheney. They were given a round of applause.

Host committee members for June were Greta Smith, Phylis Hulig, Julian Harris, Fanchon Adams, Barb Price, Barb Cheney and Marty LaFredo. Host members for July were Dee and Chuck Ellis, Bev and Claire Crawford, Karen Brooks, and Anita and Earl Ferry. President Ferry led the audience in a round of applause for the peoples’ fine work.

Entertainment for June was provided by John “Doc” Hamels who serenaded the audience with several musical songs from early and late dates. He also provided commentary between songs.

No minutes were approved for June due to the secretary’s absence. The June Treasury report was presented by Anita Ferry, Treasurer. With little commentary, it was approved by the membership.

Various reports were given by the respective chairpersons on ground maintenance, housekeeping, arts and crafts, senior council, membership and purchasing. Ferry indicated that one large window was going to be replaced due to damage. At the July meeting, the membership approved a yearly donation to the Ashville Fire Department. It was also mentioned that there was a financial donation for the Memorial Garden. Also, a bench was donated by Howard Aiken. 50/50 raffles were won by John Pratt and Juanita Holthouse in June and Earl Ferry and Art Palmer in July.

The next meeting will be held Aug. 19 at the Stow Center at 5 p.m. A fried chicken dinner will be served. The cost is $5 per person. Members are asked to bring a dish to pass.
