Mayville Senior Citizens To Meet Aug. 15

MAYVILLE — The Mayville Seniors met on July 18 with 47 people attending.

A lunch including subs and various dishes was enjoyed by all. Dianne Goodrich told two very funny stories and read a poem entitled “Little Deeds.” The Pledge to the flag was led by Janet Loomis.

The Secretary and Treasurer Reports were read. Mary Carlson, Goodwill Chairperson, listed July birthdays, anniversaries and cards sent. Janet Loomis and Jeff Wagner, tour directors, reminded those going on the Ohio Amish and Cheese Trip on Sept. 11 to pay the balance owed by July 25.

The kitchen committee including Louise Richir, Joyce Ayers, Nancy Cole, and Bill Tornstrom was thanked. The group welcomed one new member, Russ Dalziel. Door prizes were won by Joan Hoglund, DianneGoodrich and Ernest Farver.

Bill Tornstrom introduced Jill Saumigala to the group. Saumigala talked about her trip to Washington, D.C., and what she learned about the Holocaust.

The group will next meet at noon on Thursday, Aug. 15, at the Mayville VFW. Members will enjoy sloppy joes prepared by Jeff and Sandy Wagner along with a dish to pass.

Melissa Bartok, director of the Mayville Library, will be speaking. She will share her recent trip with her two daughters to Ireland.
