Lakewood Republican, Independence Party Caucuses Held

LAKEWOOD — The Lakewood Republican Caucus was held recently at the Lakewood Baptist Church, 150 Erie St.

PJ Wendel, chairman of the Busti Republican Committee and Lakewood resident, led the caucus. Susan Lane, committee person of the Busti Republican Committee and also a Lakewood resident, served as secretary.

With 108 registered Republican Lakewood residents in attendance, the office of Lakewood mayor was the first to be voted on. Nominations included Randy Holcomb, Ted McCague and John Rowan. Holcomb won the nomination with a majority of the votes.

The second office to be voted on was a trustee seat with nominations including incumbent Ellen Barnes and John Shedd. Barnes won the nomination for the seat. Nominations for the second trustee seat included newcomer Richard Fischer and John Shedd. Fischer was successful winning the majority of the votes.

The Village of Lakewood Independence Caucus was held recently at the Lakewood Lakewood Village Hall, 20 W. Summit Ave., in the village. Lakewood resident Linda Swanson served as chairwoman and led the caucus. Melanie Gritters, also a Lakewood resident, served as secretary.

The office of Lakewood mayor was the first to be voted on. Nominations included Randy Holcomb and Ted McCague. Holcomb won the nomination with the majority of the votes.

The second office to be voted on was a trustee seat, with nominations including incumbent Ellen Barnes and John Shedd. Barnes won the nomination for the first trustee seat. Nominations for the second trustee seat included Richard Fischer, John Shedd and John Yaggie. Fischer earned.
