A recent grant received from the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation will help fund Jamestown Community Learning Council’s Project LINC (Learning Is Never Complete) after school program at Lincoln Elementary School.
Operating since 1992, the LINC program provides the “missing link” for childcare needs during those after school hours while parents are still at work. S
erving 50 students a day, LINC offers a wide variety of daily enrichment activities while also featuring special events provided by community agencies.
A computer lab, a game and play area, arts and crafts, physical recreation and homework help are choices every day while dance and music by Infinity are just some examples of the additional opportunities that enhance the children’s after school experience.
“Local philanthropy from organizations like CRCF not only helps with program costs such as supplies but also helps keep participation fees affordable for working parents,” said JCLC executive director Rosary Kolivas.
“We the staff of Project LINC have a genuine love for children and enjoy being a part of their lives,” LINC coordinator Cheryl Stone said. “We believe the service we are providing to the community and our students is very important and necessary. We feel fortunate to be allowed the opportunity to work with your children. Believing that “Learning Is Never Complete” (LINC), we will offer the students a safe, stress free and fun after school environment while affording creative educational experiences.”
