Westfield Senior Citizens Change Meeting Time

WESTFIELD — The Westfield Senior Citizens met recently with 25 members and two visitors attending for a soup, bread and dessert supper served by the Westfield Women’s Organization.

Doc Hamels played guitar and sang songs.

He has played guitar for more than 50 years, has appeared on television and also writes stories for a local monthly magazine.

Pat Sciarrino, president, opened with a prayer. Shirley Kolpien shared a couple of jokes.

Ron Sumption gave devotions on Psalm 86 and a prayer.

The secretary and treasurer’s reports were both read and accepted.

Delores Kaufman, sunshine chairman, sent get-well cards to Merle Wertz, Lois Sandstrom and Pat Sciarinno.

She reported birthdays for Jean Young, Lolita Ramos, Ruth Carris and Judy Sumption.

Mary Cogliano is now a permanent resident at a nursing home in Erie.

A lively discussion on a change of time for evening meetings took place and it was voted to meet at 5:30 p.m. instead of 6 p.m.

A Chinese auction will also take place one month a year. Bingo was also suggested.

Bill Bausum was welcomed as the newest member. Ruth Carris won the 50-50 giveaway.

The door prize was won by Delores Kaufman.

Entertainment costs were discussed and will be looked at by officers at a meeting before next month.
