Sinclairville Senior Citizens Hold Auction

SINCLAIRVILLE — The Sinclairville Senior Citizens meet once a month on the second Tuesday at noon in the Sinclairville Firehall dining room for a luncheon and a program.

At the last gathering, following the luncheon, a fun auction of used items brought in by members was held.

Diman Smith served as the auctioneer adding humor with each item being old.

Smith added his own comments of the item when describing it, and often bundled small items to make the auction more interesting. At times the bidding was fierce, and yet Betty Wielgasz was often the winner of the item.

So many items won said Wielgasz, should she call her husband with a truck to bring them home? Ray Wood served as the runner delivering items and collecting the funds. All money earned goes to the organization for donations. A fun time was held at this annual event.

Prior to the auction, the luncheon was held with a large variety of food dishes and special recipes for all to enjoy.

Pastor Phil Shay gave the blessing for the meal, and ending his blessing with the phrase “dig in.” President June Whipple conducted the meeting with a welcome to all, and John Sipos led the group in the pledge of allegiance. Diane Shaw read a moving story of an Army field mission. Table decorations for the luncheon were provided by Carol Hetrick and Wood.

The minutes of the last meeting were read by secretary LouAnn Smith, and the financial report presented by treasurer Charles Sylvester.

Smith, who serves as the Sons of the American Legion Commander reported on the latest walk-a-thon to raise money for the veterans hospital.

Prizes were awarded. Recipients included Jim Hendrickson, Linda Parmenter, Shaw, Mrs. Wielgasz, Wood, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Bob and Dianne Minekime, Lori Polizzi, Russell Delahoy, and President Whipple.

The next gathering of the group will be on Tuesday, June 11, at noon the Sinclairville Firehall Dining room. Guest speaker will be Chautauqua County Sheriff Jim Quattrone. Table decorations will be provided by President Whipple.

All those attending are asked to bring a dish of food to add to the meal, and their own table service. New members are always welcome.
