‘Fill The Boot’ Drive Is Set

FALCONER — The village of Falconer Fire Department will be hosting a “Fill the Boot” Drive on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the four-corner intersection of North Work and Main streets. All proceeds from the Boot Drive will offset the cost recently incurred by the fire department for a new 2018 Demeres ambulance.

The current ambulance in service has seen significant use and experienced severe wear and tear since being put in service over 10 years ago. The call volume that the department responds to has significantly increased over the years. Last year in 2018, the department members and apparatus responded to 719 calls dedicating 7,546 man hours. Over three quarters of the call volume was EMS related. The department has responded to 290 calls to date in 2019.

The village of Falconer EMS service is run solely on monetary donations. The service has 20 basic EMTs, in addition to four advanced life support providers. The EMS providers will be on scene to educate the community about the services they provide, how to become an EMT and to conduct tours of the department’s new and old ambulance at the fire hall and in the front portion of the CVS parking lot.
