John Sipos

CASSADAGA — John Sipos has served as the Cassadaga Village Historian for 14 years, being appointed by Mayor MaryJo Bauer in 2005.

Sipos keeps historical records of the village, which includes research, group speeches, discussions with groups and maintaining records for the future. At the recent village board meeting, Sipos presented his annual report to the mayor, along with copies of Cassadaga articles. Sipos also brought one of his many notebooks which he maintains records of the village and events.

Sipos is a member of the Government Appointed Historians of New York State, the Valley Historical Society, the Chautauqua County Historical Society and the Chautauqua County Genealogical Society. Keeping records is a major part of this position, Sipos said.

Sipos thanked the village board for all their efforts in keeping the village operating smoothly, including the highway staff, and the fire department volunteers. Sipos said in a puzzle of 300 pieces, he is just one piece of the big puzzle for Cassadaga.
