Audubon Sets Backpacking Presentation

Audubon Community Nature Center is planning a Backpacking Adventure for children between the ages of 12 and 14. Those interested in the opportunity can attend an information session on Tuesday, April 16.

The Audubon Community Nature Center is offering an opportunity for children to backpack over the summer.

An information session will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, to learn more about the supervised program for children between the ages of 12 and 14. The session will give parents more information about what the camp covers including activities, gear, skill-building and risk management. There will be an opportunity to ask questions and assess if the program is a good fit for children.

Reservations are required by Thursday, April 11, by calling 569-2345 during business hours or going online to AudubonCNC.org/programs and clicking “Current Schedule.”

The session is free.

The Audubon Community Nature Center is located at 1600 Riverside Road, one-quarter mile east of Route 62 between Jamestown and Warren. The three-story Nature Center building contains interactive displays, a collection of live animals, and the Blue Heron Gift Shop. Building hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m. The 600-acre wetland preserve with its exhibit of Liberty, the non-releasable Bald Eagle, can be visited from dawn until dusk daily. Depending on the weather and the season, visitors can see the native tree arboretum, gardens, picnic area, and natural play space and use the more than five miles of trails for hiking, snowshoeing, or cross country skiing.

Starting at $3.50/week.
