MAYVILLE– Each year the Jamestown YWCA holds its Bag the Winter Blues Fundraiser. This year the event was hosted at Chautauqua Suites in Mayville. All proceeds of the event directly benefit more than 12 local YWCA Jamestown programs that impact nearly 4,000 community members each year.

The fundraiser raffles and silent auctions more than 100 purses and bags filled with generous prizes. The purses included Coach, Kate Spade, Burberry, Louis Vuitton and more.

There were more than 300 guests in attendance, which is more than have attended in any previous year.

Executive Director Jacqueline Phelps said the event is their largest fundraiser. “We are so excited to be hosting our 6th annual Bag The Winter Blues tonight,” she said. “Bag The Winter Blues is the YWCA’s largest fundraiser that allows us to provide key services to over 4,000 individuals in our community. I appreciate our sponsors, the board, the staff and so many wonderful individuals who came out tonight to allow us to continue living our mission of eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all.”
