Celtic Music Performance Set

Local musicians Sue Tillotson and Jim Cunningham will perform traditional Celtic music on Sunday, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 410 N. Main St., Jamestown, during the 10 a.m. Sunday service.

The duo has played together for many years, with Tillotson on the fiddle and Cunningham on guitar, bouzouki, cittern, Celtic harp and vocals. They are known for their love of Celtic music and free-spirited instrumentation.

The St. Patrick’s Day worship service will feature songs and prayers from the Celtic tradition that has been revitalized by the Iona Community.

The special St. Patrick’s Day commemoration is an outgrowth of St. Luke’s regular Celtic evening prayer service with communion on Saturday evening worship services held in the St. Luke’s chapel at 5 p.m.

Celtic Christianity dates back to the fourth century and is often associated with Irish and Scottish saints. The inclusive prayers, attention given to the natural world and uplifting spirit of the worship style fosters a following in many faith traditions.
