Mayville Seniors Set Trip To Buffalo

MAYVILLE — The Mayville Senior Citizens met recently.

After a variety of dishes including casseroles, salads, breads and desserts, Janet Loomis, president began the meeting. Dianne Goodrich told two funny stories, a poem called “His Presence” and then all recited the Lord’s Prayer. Loomis led the Pledge of Allegiance.

The secretary and treasurer reports were read and approved. Mary Carlson listed February birthdays and anniversaries and cards sent.

Loomis said Feb. 28 is the last day to sign up and pay for the April 16 trip to Buffalo to shop at the Broadway Market, have dinner at Salvatores Italian Gardens, then shop at the Made in America Store. The cost is $73 for members and $77 for non-members.

The kitchen committee was thanked. Guest Bert Kensellar was welcomed. Door prizes were won by Joyce Ayers, Kathy Sukalac and Herb Magnuson.

Bill Tornstrom, progam chairperson, intoduced Judy Wroda of the Southwestern Independent Living Center Inc. Wroda told of personal stories regarding abuse of the elderly and widespread homelessness in Chautauqua County.

The group’s next meeting is at noon Feb. 21 at the Mayville VFW for a soup and sandwich lunch. Those attending should bring a dish to pass and place settings, including a cup or bowl for soup.
