Falconer Region Community Fund Gets Donation From Methodist Gardens

Jon Saff, president of the board of directors of the former Methodist Gardens, confirmed a unanimous decision to present the Falconer Region Community Fund, administered by the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation, over $175,000 recently.

These funds approved by U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the state Attorney General’s Office were the result of the transition of the Methodist Gardens HUD subsidized housing facility to Housing Preservation.

Methodist Gardens was built in the early 1980s by the Barnes Construction Company. Stu Barnes, developer, was the owner of the construction company, a Falconer resident and a loyal supporter of this community. The building proved to be a great asset to the Falconer area as indicated by its high level of occupancy over the years.

“We believe that Housing Preservation will continue to do a great job carrying on Methodist Gardens’ fine tradition of providing quality subsidized housing to our area’s senior population,” Saff said.

Saff also complimented the board members for their time and effort in discussing and reviewing many non-profit 501c3 organizations and for making the decision to contribute to the Falconer Region Community Fund.

“It is very appropriate that these funds find their way to the Community Foundation where they will continue to benefit the Falconer region,” Saff said. “This past year has been a busy time for the board members and all of the individuals who assisted in the transfer of the ownership. The end result of everyone’s efforts was a win/win situation and a blessing from above.”

Starting at $3.50/week.
