The Chautauqua Region Community Foundation continues its support of the Ellery Town Park.
The Foundation recently awarded the town a grant towards the purchase and installation of a 34-foot Glide Ride — a zip line type of playground equipment.
The Ellery Town Park is a very popular 25-acre community park. Already the home of 5 soccer fields, two Little League baseball fields, regulation-sized softball and football fields, three newly-renovated tennis courts, two basketball courts, a playground, two picnic pavilions, open spaces, summer concerts and one of the area’s only paved walking paths, the park is now home to the first local Glide Ride.
This ride, designed to meet ADA standards, promises a fun, exhilarating experience, while building confidence and better preparing young riders for future challenges.
To ensure the safety of the children using the glide ride, the full project includes the installation of the wood fiber surfacing for the playground, held in place by a new retaining wall.
“Not even in commission for an entire summer, we are getting rave reviews from the riders and their parents,” stated Town Supervisor, Arden Johnson.
