Chamber Singers To Perform 12th Night Concert Sunday At First Presbyterian Church, Jamestown

The Chautauqua Chamber Singers, under the direction of Rebecca Ryan and accompanied by Charles Johnson, will present a Twelfth Night concert “What Sweeter Music’ at 4 p.m. today at First Presbyterian Church in Jamestown.

12th Night historically marks the end of the 12 days of Christmas on Jan. 6, which is the feast of the Epiphany.

The costumed Chautauqua Chamber Singers sing by candlelight, supported by traditional readings, performing new and old choral music. The concert has become for many a traditional ending of the Christmas season. Included in the concert will be ‘Once in a Royal David City”, “Adestes Fideles” “A Carol” by Roland E. Martin and the famed arrangement by David Willcocks ‘Masters in this Hall.”

A pie reception, hosted by the Chautauqua Chamber Singers will follow the Jamestown performance.

The Community Music Project offers all concerts to the community for free supporting its ‘Music For All’ initiative. The Community Music Project began the program with the formation of its 93 voice CMP Chorale in August. The CMP Chorale will once again begin rehearsals in March following the Chamber Singers’ March 17 concert. For more information, visit cmpchorale.org or call 664-2227
