Thanksgiving was around the corner and some thought he would chicken out, but Jason Tracy, Western New York P-TECH College and Career Academy English teacher, had kissed a pig and squeals of laughter rang throughout.

“The P-TECH National Honor Society, in order to raise funds for NHS T-shirts and the Chautauqua County Humane Society, decided to hold a kiss-a-pig fundraiser,” said Stephen Ruszczyk, P-TECH principal.

Students collected spare change and placed donations into staff-specific jars, with a choice between Tracy or Sam Conti, WNY P-TECH guidance counselor.

The winner also was able to select a staff member to join them in the smooch. Tracy selected Ann Marie Riggie, consultant teacher, to join him in the act.

“Jason” the pig was provided by Nate Hoelscher, WNY P-TECH senior. Nate has won numerous awards for his pigs in local and regional fairs.

WNY P-TECH National Honor Society students include Donald Warren, Hope Smith and Erik Mettler from Jamestown; Luke Peterson-Riedesel and Whitney Hice from Dunkirk; David Kozlowski from Forestville; and Katlyn Lawton from Pine Valley.
