RANDOLPH — Randolph Regional EMS Corporation has utilized funding obtained from the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation McLaughlin Grant Program to purchase a 12-lead /defibrillation cardiac monitoring mannequin device.

This tool, the mannequin skin, has been used to educate emergency medical technicians on obtaining a prehospital 12-lead which will help identify a myocardial infarction, or heart attack, at the scene of an emergency. With this skill being performed before an EMT arrives, it can help identify if the patient can go to the closest hospital or if they need emergency transport by air or ground to the closest invasive cardiac catheterization Hospital.

The skin is able to replicate a heart attack along with over 20 other normal and abnormal cardiac rhythms. The skin is also capable of accepting a full defibrillation shock from an AED or defibrillator to allow more realistic training to the community or EMS crews.

Starting at $3.50/week.
