Harmony Seniors Enjoy Thanksgiving Dinner

Forty-eight members and guests of the Harmony Senior Citizens enjoyed a Thanksgiving dinner prepared by members of the group on Nov. 1 in the North Harmony Senior Center in Stow. Ellen Coffaro thanked the members who prepared the dinner.

Beverly Smith, president, welcomed everyone and Lois King, Chaplain, led the flag salute and offered the dinner prayer.

Discussion held regarding dues. The dues has been set at $8 per year, with members over 85 being given free dues. A motion was made and carried effective September 2019 all members will be charged $5 dues per year including members over 85. Also, a motion was made and carried to do away with the 50/50 drawing and instead each member will pay $1 at each meeting. This is effective immediately. This was done in an effort to increase the balance in the treasury.

The collection at each meeting for a donation of 50 cents for coffee, sugar, etc. will no longer be done. A $5 gift will continue to be given to the oldest member present who is celebrating a birthday.

The members have collected $50 for the Pennies for Paws campaign and a check will be forwarded to them.

The secretary’s report was given by Wendie Raynor and the treasurer’s report was given by Mary Lou Garfield. Both were approved as read.

United Senior Council will hold a Christmas luncheon on December 13th at the Community Building in Celoron at 11:00. All are welcome and those attending should bring a dish to pass and their own table service.

Plans were made for a ham and scalloped potato Christmas luncheon for the next meeting which will be held Dec. 6 at noon, in the North Harmony Senior Center in Stow. The cost is $5 per person and members are to bring their own table service. Reservations are required. Contact Mary Lou Garfield at 782-4575 to sign up for the luncheon.
