Curtis Given Dan Feather Scholarship

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Academy has awarded academy recruit Brandon Curtis with the Dan Feather Memorial Scholarship worth $1,000.

Curtis is attending the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Academy at Jamestown Community College. He is from Frewsburg, attended Falconer High School, and later JCC where he studied Criminal Justice. Curtis was accepted into the Sheriff’s Academy in August 2018.

The Dan Feather Memorial Scholarship was created by Verna Feather, the widow of Dan Feather, an 18 year veteran of the Jamestown Police Department. The recipient must be a Chautauqua County resident who is attending the Sheriff’s Academy and possesses qualities which reflect the professionalism and character that Dan Feather demonstrated during his service as a police officer. The scholarship to Curtis is the 21st that has been awarded.

It is the hope of Mrs. Feather that this scholarship can be a lasting memorial to Dan Feather and also help those who are just starting out in the pursuit of a career in police work.
