Cattaraugus Bank Elects Director

Marc Pritchard

Patrick J. Cullen, Bank of Cattaraugus president and chief executive officer, is pleased to announce the election of Marc A. Pritchard to its Board of Directors.

Bank of Cattaraugus is a full-service commercial bank that has served the citizens of the Cattaraugus area for more than 136 years. Founded in 1882, Bank of Cattaraugus’ directors, officers and staff of the community bank are dedicated to taking care of the local residents and businesses.

Pritchard is the owner of Pritchard Hardware in Cattaraugus Village and is a life-long resident of the area. Pritchard graduated from Cattaraugus Central School in 1973 and received specialized training in plumbing, heating and electrical at Alfred College. Pritchard is the son of Gerald and Arvilla Pritchard of Cattaraugus who founded Pritchard Hardware in 1960. Pritchard follows his father, Gerald Pritchard, as director of Bank of Cattaraugus, who served in that capacity for 33 years.

Pritchard and his wife, Mary, live in Cattaraugus and are the parents of Bethany, Jacob, Marcella and Joshua as well as six grandchildren. Pritchard brings a wealth of knowledge and entrepreneurial skills to his position as a bank director.

Cullen said, “Bank of Cattaraugus is very fortunate to have Marc on our Board of Directors. His experience and involvements in the Cattaraugus community are valuable assets he brings to this position.”

Pritchard is noted as being proficient in many additional interests such as woodworking, bicycling, hiking, photography, adventure travel and radio-controlled car racing. Pritchard is most adept at long-distance endurance cycling, which he has been involved in since 1995. His cycling awards have been numerous and he is especially proud of his recent “Race Across America” record setting tour that his team completed in seven days, traveling from California to Maryland. Pritchard has climbed Mt. Washington, descended to the floor of the Grand Canyon, and has hiked Machu Picchu Peru, as well as areas in France, Alaska, Hawaii and several National Parks.

Bank of Cattaraugus is the oldest bank in Western New York State and one of the oldest banks in the nation. The bank does not have any branches in other communities and one of its goals has been to “stay home and do a good job.” Bank of Cattaraugus is the local, independent, community bank who prides itself on helping the local communities.
