The Allen Park Women’s Club gathered at the Allen Park Men’s Club to commemorate the Women’s Club’s donation of solar lighting for the Men’s Club parking lot.

“We saw that the parking lot lacked ample lighting for nighttime use and wanted to show our appreciation to the Men’s Club for use of their facility,” said Shannon Neubauer, Allen Park Women’s Club president.

This past summer, the light was donated and installed to ensure the safety of all members and guests using the facility, which is available for rentals.

“We were more than happy to contribute to their club,” Neubauer added.

That evening, the Women’s Club hosted their annual game night-themed meeting. The committee members were Pat Spencer, Carolyn Anderson, Nancy Wilson and Roslyn Sisley. They provided games and an abundance of snacks and desserts. Neubauer called the meeting to order and Sandy Forsberg gave the treasurer’s report. The club discussed the successful summer season of selling concessions at the Allen Park Bandshell Concert Series. Carol Drake, secretary, read the minutes from May and the members discussed having more guest speakers at future meetings and the possibility of having fewer meetings during the year.

The next meeting will be held Tuesday, Oct. 16, at 6 p.m. at the Allen Park Men’s Club. It will be the annual pot luck dinner; each member is asked to bring a dish to pass and their own table service. Members are also asked to bring items to donate for the Blue Star Mothers collection drive for Christmas care packages to service members overseas. For a list of items to donate, call a club officer. The committee for the meeting will be Karen Johnson; Roselyn Eggleston, chairwoman; Lisa Gustafson, Shirley Gustafson and Sue Peterson.

Starting at $3.50/week.
