POLAND — The Town of Poland Summer Recreation Program ended for another year after five weeks of fun. Youth ages 5 to 14 participated in games, crafts and took field trips each week to explore exciting things in our local area.

Each week had a theme, and Beach Week, with a trip to Cassadaga Lake, was a highlight for many.

A picnic was held in Hallquist Park in Kennedy to celebrate all the good times for the summer. Calvert Baker brought his miniature horses, Easter Lilly, and Impression, to do a few tricks and be petted. LaRoy’s Gr8 Goats had several of their animals at the park. People were able to bottle-feed some of the kids, and a large LaMancha x Nubian goat, Graham, pulled a cart that younger children could ride in. A final field trip, this year to Fantasy Island, was the finale. Participants made ‘Thank You’ cards for the town of Poland for sponsoring the program and suggested ideas for future fun in the summer.
