Power Outage Affects City Residents

More than 400 BPU customers were without power late Monday evening following a power outage.

According to engineers and Jamestown Board of Public Utilities crew members, a problem with the English Hill Substation caused the outage around 3:30 p.m. which affected the south side quadrant of the city. The affected area included Foote Avenue, the east city line and as far north as the Buffalo and Allen streets intersection.

As of 4:30 p.m. Monday, crews restored power to 1462 people, with about 423 people still without electricity. Crews were working on repairs, although no time estimate of completion could be provided late Monday.

The outage had caused low water pressure in the English Hill pressure zone. Once power is restored, customers may see discolored water in the area affected by the outage. Do not do laundry until water appears clear.

Starting at $3.50/week.
