Mayville Senior Citizens Hold October Meeting

About 40 Seniors met at the VFW on Oct. 5.

Dianne Goodrich asked for a moment of silence in memory of Ruth Patterson and Maxine Francis. The secretary and treasurer reports were read. Goodwill Chairperson, Mary Carlson, listed October birthdays and anniversaries. She also sent several cards. J

Jeff Wagner, Tour Director, noted that monies for the Christmas Dinner Theatre Trip to Erie need to be paid by Nov. 2. Two new members, Betty Carvella and Diane Strain were welcomed. Guest, Kay Callender was also welcomed.

Members were asked to make their reservations for the Harvest Dinner, which will be held Saturday, Nov. 4, at noon at the VFW. Tickets cost $5 for members, $10 non-members. Call Bonnie at 451-4037 or Edna at 789-2316 before Oct. 20.

The group was privileged to have Chautauqua County Sheriff Joseph Gerace as a guest speaker. He gave an informative talk to the group regarding a number of scams targeting the elderly.

The seniors’ next meeting is scheduled at noon on Thursday at the Mayville VFW. The group will be entertained by Ian Liedke from Buffalo. Ian is a jazz pianist, composer and recent graduate from Fredonia University. He plays a large variety of songs, old and new.
