Valu Donates $108K To Habitat For Humanity

Submitted photo

Valu Home Centers presented Habitat for Humanity with a check for $108,300 during a live broadcast on July 31, 2017.

The presentation, broadcast from the Valu Home Centers store location on Clinton Street in Buffalo, is an annual event that raises money and awareness for the work of Habitat for Humanity. Valu Home Centers is covers all administrative costs so that all donations will support Habitat for Humanity as the agency continues its mission to provide safe, decent housing for families in need.

The donation was generated from funds collected at Valu stores during the 25th annual Habitat for Humanity fundraising campaign. For five weeks, cashiers in stores throughout Western New York asked customers to donate one dollar in exchange for a ticket that entered them to win a $1,000 Valu Home Centers gift card or a 2017 Ford Focus. The winner of the new car, Greg Skora of Hamburg, was chosen during the live broadcast from more than 100,000 tickets by Ron Talboys of Habitat for Humanity of Buffalo.

All funds raised will stay in the communities where they were collected; so all donors give where they live.
