UPMC Chautauqua WCA President Named Among 100 Most Influential Women In WNY

Betsy T. Wright, FACHE, president, UPMC Chautauqua WCA, has been named one of 100 “Power 100 Western New York’s Most Influential Women in 2017” by the Buffalo Business First newspaper, a weekly business publication covering the Western New York region.

Wright, appointed President/CEO at WCA Hospital in July of 1999, has been recognized for her leadership and grassroots and community efforts at the state and national level for UPMC Chautauqua WCA.

The Buffalo Business First Power 100 is a diverse list of business, education, healthcare, political, and sports leaders who wield the most clout in the eight-county region. Names of POWER 100 honorees was solicited from reporters, editors and readers of the Buffalo Business First newspaper who (in their opinion) are the movers and shakers in Western New York. They only considered an individual’s current influence. The Power 100 is a list of leaders who will make a difference this year.

Steven Kilburn, chair of the board of directors, UPMC Chautauqua WCA, says Betsy’s healthcare experience, strategic leadership, and positive attitude all contribute to the ongoing success of the organization. “One of the most important keys to our success is the leadership of our hospital president,” said Steve.

“Under Betsy’s leadership, we have made great strides as a hospital. We have recently integrated with the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), bringing world-class healthcare to our hometown.We are identifying and developing new community-based programs and services. We have implemented an organization-wide electronic patient record system. And we are the first hospital in the Southern Tier to perform robotic surgery. We applaud Betsy as one of the most influential people in our region and we appreciate her dedicated and forward-thinking leadership.”

A Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, Wright has served as Executive Vice President/COO and had filled various administrative positions at WCA Hospital since 1989. Mrs. Wright has over 35 years of healthcare experience. Under her leadership, UPMC Chautauqua WCA has received numerous awards and recognition. UPMC Chautauqua WCA was honored for 2 consecutive years as a 100 Top Hospital for Performance Improvement by Solucient (now Thompson/Reuters). UPMC Chautauqua WCA is Joint Commission accredited and recently received a 3 year approval with commendation from the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer.
