JCC Nursing Student Receives First Marjorie L. Larson Memorial Scholarship

Brooke Tobias holds a photo of Marjorie Larson and is joined by Warren VanDewark, Larson’s nephew, and his wife Diane. Tobias is the first recipient of the Marjorie L. Larson Memorial Scholarship for second year nursing students at Jamestown Community College.

Brooke Tobias of Sinclairville is the first recipient of the Marjorie L. Larson Memorial Scholarship, administered by the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation.

Tobias is a second-year nursing student at Jamestown Community College. According to Kathy Taydus, JCC director of nursing education, “Brooke has a positive attitude that nothing will stop her from becoming a nurse and graduating from the JCC program. She is kind and thoughtful to her patients in clinical.”

Marjorie Larson was born and raised in Frewsburg and graduated from the WCA Hospital School of Nursing. For 38 years, Larson cared for patients at WCA Hospital as a registered nurse. Her family created this scholarship in her memory to assist second-year JCC students.
